AbstractIn modern conditions, sustainable intensification is becoming a factor that combines dynamic productivity growth in agriculture with compliance with environmental requirements and increased adaptation to climate change. The article examines the possibilities of sustainable intensification of agriculture in the Republic of Azerbaijan, taking into account the specifics of local conditions, and conducts appropriate assessments.
In the process of re-intensification of agriculture after transformation, the principles of sustainability have not been implemented consistently. At the same time, recent measures taken to develop the agricultural sector, along with accelerating the intensification process, open the way for the increased use of sustainable production methods in this area. The article discusses the existing opportunities in this direction. It is shown that the introduction of sustainable intensification should be taken as one of the main principles of the general strategy for the development of agriculture in our country, and the implementation of this principle should be reflected in the directions, priorities and mechanisms of this strategy. In this regard, also is the need for new approaches to the formation of the structure and directions of state aid to agriculture, first of all, the mechanism of subsidizing producers, is also relevant.
