SummaryThe article analyzes the conceptual bases of monitoring and evaluation, considers international practice in this area, examines the practical implications of transition from traditional activity-based principles to results-based monitoring and evaluation, its necessity and practical issues in agricultural policy arising from this transition. This study takes into account both world practice and local experience. Given the fact that there are terminological innovations in Azerbaijan in the field of results-based monitoring and evaluation, the author clarifies some of the most important concepts used in this field in world literature. In the conclusion, the experience gained in monitoring and evaluation of agricultural policy in Azerbaijan was analyzed and recommendations were proposed on the transition to results-based principles
